What do you need:

  • A4 copy paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • String

Note: I tested this activity on three types of paper: tissue paper, copy paper, and cardstock. For this project, I recommend using 80gsm copy paper. Tissue paper is too complicated for the final folding step, and cardstock does not perform well with the initial folding step.

Lay A4 paper on a landscape rotation. Fold the paper in half three times horizontally.

Now fold the paper in half vertically. Then cut the four corners of the folded paper by cutting small triangles.

Open the vertical fold. Tie and tie a little string around the middle trench. Then cut along the horizontal folds. The paper is now made up of 8 separate narrow strips which are held together in the center with a little string.

Add a little glue to the end of a strip. Fold this strip in the center and press down on the glued section. Repeat this instruction for all bands.

Make two 2.5 cm incisions at the ends of each strip. Gently pull to open a glued strip and reverse the fold of the end incisions. You will see two love heart shapes on either side of an ellipse. Repeat this instruction for all bands.

Wrap a long string around the center of the snowflake. Tie the loop closed and hang the snowflake.
