Former ISRO president to open Science Expo


Space-on-Wheels, main attractions of the Aryabhata Mobile Planetarium

Mysore/Mysore: On the occasion of the celebration of the ten-year year, Mysore Science Foundation (MSF) will hold a Science Expo 2022 at Sadvidya Semi-residential PU College, Vijayanagar, in the city on July 9 between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Disclosing this during a press conference at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, the Secretary General of the Foundation, GB Santhosh Kumar said that former Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman AS Kiran Kumar will inaugurate the exhibition at 10 a.m. There will be no registration fees. The expo is exclusively organized for students, science enthusiasts and the general public.

The exhibition will feature Space-on-Wheels by ISRO in Volvo Bus for the first time in Mysuru, which is the main attraction of the Expo with the recreation of the space inside the bus with space equipment, rocket models, etc.

Other attractions like Aryabhata Mobile Planetarium which is a 3D space show, mobile science lab, babies and human anatomy specimens, food adulteration detection demonstration, nutritional and health status for students and the public, a workshop for making scientific and mathematical models and an exhibition of kits along with sale, exhibition of scientific and mathematical models by a scientific institution, a research institution and creative teachers, robotic models, ham radio and 3D printing, photo exhibition on aero modelling, science and nature. There will be a health screening camp of the Government Center of Ayurveda Research Institute. Origami specialist VSS Shastri will present math toys and cartoons.

The exhibition’s farewell ceremony will be held at the Platinum Jubilee Auditorium of the city’s Yuvaraja’s College on July 10 at 10 a.m. Space scientist Dr RN Suresh Kumar will be the main guest. On this occasion, all the resource persons of the monthly series of scientific conferences will be congratulated.
