Hoyt offers fall classes for adults | Lifestyles


As young people in Lawrence County return to school this month, Arts & Education at the Hoyt is offering area adults their own selection of classes and workshops with the recent release of its class session of fall 2022, from September 20 to November 12.

Choose from several six- to eight-week courses in ceramics, stained glass, plein air painting, watercolour, drawing, graphic design, DSLR photography, Italian and yoga; or opt for full-day workshops in mosaics, fused glass, stained glass, alcohol inks, quilling paper, marbled paper, origami, photography and smartphone editing. Some courses, such as ceramics, stained glass and photography, allow the use of the workshop outside of class hours.

Artists interested in participating in the Hoyt Regional, or other upcoming juried art competitions, may want to mark their calendars for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on November 12. The Ready, Set, Show workshop will guide participants in crafting an engaging art portfolio. exploring tips and tricks for photographing their work. Bring the items you want to photograph with an SD card and flash drive. The workshop is free for member artists / $35 for non-members.

Young artists still have their own options for exercising their imaginations with classes in ceramics, clay, drawing and printmaking. If you are homeschooling, these courses are eligible for reimbursement by the PA Cyber ​​School.

The Hoyt is also introducing a new Sensory-Friendly Mixed Media Workshop for children ages 8-12 on the Autism Spectrum. It will be taught by Stephanie Presnar, a Certified Special Educator, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on October 13.

Scholarships are available for all ages covering 25 to 100 percent of tuition and materials.
