Make Mother’s Day memorable with these special events and offers – WSOC TV

Make this Mother’s Day the best one yet by taking advantage of some of these special offers and events happening in Charlotte.

Treat Mom to a tour of one of Charlotte’s hidden gems. The McGill Rose Garden at 940 North Davidson Street will be open to the public daily until Sunday. There is no admission fee, but donations to the McGill Rose Garden Foundation are appreciated.

Another special place to celebrate this special day is the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in Belmont, where moms get free admission on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors must reserve or purchase a timed ticket in advance. The first 250 mothers who enter each day will receive a free potted plant.

Moms also get free admission to the Extreme Ice Center at Indian Trail on Sundays from 2-4:20 p.m. with the purchase of youth admission.

Help mom find her inner yogi and sign her up for an alpaca yoga session at Good Karma Ranch at Iron Station. For $25, mom can practice yoga for 50 minutes in the pasture among the alpacas. Classes are available on Saturdays and some Sundays in June and July.

Revisit a typical bouquet with handcrafted origami flowers. The Harvey B. Gantt Center in downtown will host an origami program for families on Saturday. All levels of experience are welcome and an artist will be on hand to guide participants through the process. Tickets are $10 per person.

Treat mom to a spring concert by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. Concerts are scheduled for this weekend at Amity Presbyterian Church on Saturday and Five Points Plaza on Sunday. Admission is free but reservations are required.

If mom has a sweet tooth, pick up homemade treats at one of these sweet spots: BW Sweets Bakery at 5820 East WT Harris Blvd. and 1425 Winnifred Street; Twenty Degrees Chocolates at 1930 Camden Road, Suite 135; Le Secret Chocolatier at 2935 Providence Road, Suite 104; Davidson Chocolate Company at 610 Jetton Street, Suite 150; or Chocolatier Barrucand at 1 Union Street South in Concord.

Looking for a meaningful gift that respects the environment and gives back to the community? Donate to TreesCharlotte and the organization will plant a tree at an area school during tree planting season in honor of Mom. Your family can attend a groundbreaking ceremony and help with the planting if you wish to attend. TreesCharlotte will send mom a personalized card and you can also download a customizable certificate for a quick and easy gift.
