The New Bedford Local Cultural Council (NBLCC) is pleased to announce the grant winners for 2022. New Bedford has received a total of $119,600 to distribute during the 2022 grant cycle. This funding is awarded to individuals, groups and agencies whose projects enhance the arts, sciences and humanities in the city of New Bedford.

Each year, volunteer board members screen dozens of applications. The Council makes grants to those who promote and enhance the quality of life for New Bedford residents by providing places that enhance education, diversity, the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences. Based on a survey of New Bedford residents in the summer of 2021, priority was given to projects that feature outdoor performances and free programming, support individual artists, and include audiences from marginalized populations and underserved.

The Council strives to fund as many projects as possible. This year, 69 of 74 nominees were chosen for awards. The CCNB salutes the creativity of all those who applied for grants and who took the time to read and apply the Board’s priorities.

Note that current application dates and board priorities have not yet been updated from last year. These dates and priorities will change in August and application will open in September. The deadline for applications has been October 15 in the past, although this may change due to Covid-related variables.

The council maintains a Facebook page that shares information related to grant expiry dates. Follow them at Facebook.com/NBCulturalCouncil.
