Organic theater presents FLANKER ORIGAMI

A couple of performers exhibit their daily rituals and locking adaptation routines, digitally unleashing two eccentric performance characters determined to turn their Edinburgh home into a scintillating alternate reality. Through disguises, dances, disembodied animations, forced karaoke and unlikely ASMR tales, they are on a quest to improve their own well-being and yours! Stranded on Zoom, their relationship reveals a tender and funny, albeit slightly disturbing, world of online intimacy on the verge of misunderstanding and manipulation. Award-winning organic theater returns to the fringes for a digital world premiere. Flanker Origami will be available live online from August 23-30, 2021 as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2021 digital program. Tickets are available for purchase now at

Organic Theater is an intercultural performance laboratory created by Bianca Mastrominico and John Dean in 2002. They fabricate, play, disrupt and remake. They sleep on it, dream of the rest, they are dissatisfied and they continue to be curious. They are collectors of creative insights from their lives and times. They learn from their own processes, from others, they network, they transmit it.

For John and Bianca, Flanker Origami is a way to test the ground for this year’s Fringe hybrid model; with the return of live productions in physical spaces, but with a good number of online shows also scheduled, meeting the public via digital media is a bit of an anthropological experience for them.

“The challenge for us is to design a work that is so close to who we are – a couple of performers forced to create in digital captivity from their own home – and to stage our domestic environment, both private and public. are so fuzzy right now. It’s a bit fuzzy sometimes, but at least it forces us to tidy up the house regularly! We hope we can talk about our experience of creativity in a post-pandemic world in a way that brings a smile thus recognition of the human cracks that we have all undergone, despite our courage and our resilience in the face of adversity. It’s a bit our own story but enhanced by a tender, funny, intimate and slightly disturbing interaction between Flanker and Origami , our character performance. ” Bianca & John.
