BOARDMAN, Ohio — Boardman Township Park will celebrate its 75e year with a community birthday party on Saturday August 27th.
Since its founding, Boardman Park has grown to 243 acres with multiple facilities and nearly year-round events.
The Birthday Bash will run from 5-7 p.m. and will feature live music from the bands Rock Radio and Rudy and the Professionals at the Maag Amphitheater, a kids’ zone, wagon rides and hot dogs and a free birthday cake while supplies last.

Adult art classes, workshops at The Hoyt
NEW CASTLE, PA – Arts & Education at Hoyt is offering classes and workshops for adults September 20 through November 12.
Classes include ceramics, stained glass, plein air painting, watercolour, drawing, graphic design, photography, Italian and yoga.
There will also be one-day workshops on mosaics, fused glass, stained glass, alcohol inks, paper quilling, paper marbling, origami, photography and smartphone editing. Certain courses, such as ceramics, stained glass and photography, authorize the use of the workshop outside of class hours.
Artists interested in participating in the Hoyt Regional or other upcoming juried art competitions are encouraged to attend the Ready, Set, Show workshop on November 12. It will guide participants in developing an engaging art portfolio by exploring tips and tricks for photographing their work.
Young artists still have their own options for exercising their imaginations with classes in ceramics, clay animation, drawing and printmaking. These courses are eligible for reimbursement by the PA Cyber School.
The Hoyt is also presenting a new Sensory-Friendly Mixed Media Workshop for children ages 8-12 on the Autism Spectrum on October 13.

Writing groups for the bereaved
YOUNGSTOWN – Community Hospice and Lit Youngstown have teamed up to present two six-week writing groups for the bereaved.
Sessions will be Mondays from 6-8 p.m. at the Columbiana Library, beginning August 29; and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Boardman Library, beginning August 31.
Lit Youngstown is a nonprofit literary organization that engages with the community through writing, reading, and storytelling.

Auditions for the Stambaugh Youth Concert Band
YOUNGSTOWN — Auditions for the Stambaugh Youth Concert Band will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. September 6 and 13 at the venue.
The group paves the way for music students to continue their music education at the college level and pursue careers in music performance or music education.
The SYCB is under the direction of Tyler Husosky, Michael Crist and Nathan Sensabaugh and features top high school musicians from northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
He will rehearse every Tuesday evening from September 20 to April 11 and will give two concerts.
