Wichita Public Library Offers More Than Books


For 2-6 year olds there is a story time live every Friday at 10:30 am on the library’s Facebook page. There is a STEAM activity – it’s science, technology, engineering, art and math – every month for 5 to 8 year olds. Pick up your kit at the library for a live demonstration on January 15 at 2:30 pm. 9-11 year olds can meet on Zoom on January 12 at 5 pm for a Wish a star origami craft project.

For college students, there is the Bookbox Club. The theme for January is Hearts & Heartbreak. Attendees pick up a box of items from the library anytime over the past week, then meet on Zoom on January 20 at 4 p.m. to chat and play games.

For teens, there is a journalism club which meets on Zoom on January 25, and a Get the job virtual event on January 31st that will provide advice on CVs and interviews.

If you are ready to meet in person, there is a monthly appointment Cosplay Creators Club for 12-18 year olds. Get tips on making costumes and props, and use the library’s crafting tools on January 14 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Advanced Learning Library.

And for adults, there is a Zoom conversation with Denise NeilWichita eagle writer and author of Classic Wichita Restaurants – January 22 at 2:30 p.m.
