SYRACUSE – This fall, those visiting WonderWorks Syracuse will have the opportunity to have fun, learn and show off their artistic abilities at Destiny USA.
The family attraction will offer a variety of new programs for the season that aim to excite young minds, engage the community and create fun memories. With programs such as the annual art competition, National STEM Day, and Saturdays in Space, students and families will be provided with several fun learning opportunities in the Upside Down House this semester.
“We love to run educational programs throughout the year that engage our community and excite our students. We are delighted to open applications for the second round of our CNY Art Competition, ”said Jon Cascella, Managing Director of WonderWorks Syracuse. “We loved seeing their faces when they finally saw their works on display. Programs like the Art Contest and National STEM Day give us the opportunity to go above and beyond for our Syracuse community. The fun fall programs at WonderWorks Syracuse include:
• CNY Art – The WonderWorks Art Competition is now accepting submissions for its 2022 Art Gallery. For the second year, the competition theme is “Imagination”. The deadline for applications is Wednesday December 15th.
Local artists will have their work on display at WonderWorks for an entire year, and winners will receive free tickets to visit the gallery and see their work on display. To learn more and view submission guidelines, visit the website: https://www.wonderworksonline.com/destiny/art-contest/.
• Saturdays in space – WonderWorks hosts Saturdays in Space every Saturday in October. Viewers can tune in weekly to learn more about space and what it takes to be an astronaut through the “Ask An Astronaut” video question-and-answer series. Last month, local students were invited to submit questions to former NASA astronaut Dr. Don Thomas, and his answers are posted on the WonderWorks YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/ watch? v = qcYvNfuGMZE & t = 81sz.
• National STEM Day – In honor of National STEM Day, WonderWorks Syracuse will honor the importance of STEM by providing guests with science labs and fun experiences to participate in throughout the building on Saturday, November 6. The labs will give people a chance to explore the principles of pressure, temperature, density, origami, etc. These special programs will be available in addition to the more than 100 hands-on interactive exhibits offered throughout the year.
“These are all fun ways to learn more about science,” added Cascella. “Fall should be great at WonderWorks Syracuse.”
