WWE 2K22 Beginner Tips You Need To Know

After a two-year hiatus, the biggest wrestling franchise in video games returns with WWE 2K22. After the huge disappointment that was WWE 2K20, developers and fans needed a comeback. Fortunately, for the most part, that’s exactly what the developers at Visual Concepts have done.

There is still room for improvement, but they have laid the groundwork to create something special in the future. There are still a few patches needed to fix some bugs and hopefully the new Backstage Brawl mode will be fleshed out in an update. As a new title, WWE 2K22 has mechanics that players need to master, but it’s an easy adjustment if one follows the information in this list.

Play the opening tutorial

As soon as we start WWE 2K22 they will be greeted with the game’s tutorial presented by Drew Gulak. Although it may be tempting, don’t skip this part of the game and use it to get used to the new mechanics.

Even for veterans of the series, the tutorial is definitely worth it. WWE 2K22 has a new combo and grappling hook system that effectively replaces the chain grapple mechanics of its predecessors. That means it’s a faster experience than before and will take some getting used to.

Play showcase mode

Showcase mode in WWE 2k22 is another great way to get familiar with the mechanics of the game. Players must complete in-ring tasks in order to progress through recreations of real-life matches that WWE legend Rey Mysterio starred in.

Many of these set tasks will include more advanced maneuvers and combinations that the player will get used to. Additionally, completing all twelve matches in Showcase Mode will unlock wrestlers like Shawn Michaels, Batista, Eddie Guerrero, Kane, and JBL.

Adjust game settings

Many wrestling fans are very particular about how a wrestler should play, look, and perform. It is therefore an excellent idea to embark on WWE 2K22′s menu and play with the settings.

The menu offers options such as game difficulty settings ranging from easy to legendary. There are options for weight detection, pinning mini-game, and more. These options allow players to tailor their game to their liking, whether they want an arcade or simulation-like experience.

Check Your Favorite Wrestler’s Movesets

Everyone has their favorite wrestler, whether it’s Brock Lesnar or Seth Rollins, each wrestler offers something different to players. Checking out a wrestler’s moveset is a great way to familiarize yourself with their best moves, signatures, and finishers.

In addition to getting familiar with a wrestler’s moveset, players can also use the feature’s practice mode to try out moves. Moreover, if one is not satisfied with the moves of his favorite wrestler, they can be adjusted and changed to his liking.

Play ladder match in easy mode

The ladder match in WWE 2K22 is definitely a better experience than its predecessors. Ladders are now easier to position and hit detection goes a long way towards improving the fun factor in multiplayer matches.

However, the special match isn’t as fun in the single-player modes against the AI. This isn’t helped by the tedious mini-game that kicks players out of the game. It takes practice, but it still feels very luck-based. So the best way to learn how to succeed in Ladder matches at WWE 2K22 is to practice it in Easy mode.

Play the Royal Rumble on easy mode

The Royal Rumble has been a staple of WWE video games for over two decades. Arguably the best game to showcase the Royal Rumble match is still WWF No Mercy, a 22-year-old wrestling game on the Nintendo 64. However, WWE 2K22 was again much improved from its predecessors where weight sets are a big factor as well as a wrestler’s recovery attributes.

Like with WWE 2K22‘s Ladder matches, success can be too dependent on luck. Sometimes the player superstar can perform well knocking out all comers, until John Cena enters the mix and throws his character over the top rope effortlessly. Additionally, it may require a mini-game when eliminating or preventing an elimination. The best way to get used to this mode is to play it on easy mode before trying it out in Career and MyRise Universe modes.

Play Hell In A Cell on easy mode

Hell in the cell is easily the best type of match in WWE 2K22. Up to six wrestlers can compete in free-for-all or tag-team events. Wrestlers can fight inside, outside and above the cage and slam them through.

They can fight at ringside, use weapons and use weapons to make it even more extreme. Fortunately, there are no boring mini-games to master, but it’s always a good idea to have fun with Hell in a Cell on easy mode to test out all the mechanics and special finishers associated with the match.

There is a good selection of wrestlers and legends to choose from in WWE 2K22. However, there will always be wrestlers that fans would like to see in the game. Whether it’s legends like Mr. Perfect or stars like Kenny Omega from other organizations like All Elite Wrestling.

The Community Creations suite contains incredibly accurate recreations of wrestlers that aren’t in-game. Many of them look just as good as the screenshots made by the developers. Additionally, fans can even download that particular wrestler’s move set if it hasn’t already been created.

WWE 2K22 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
